PaperCut MF and NG 19.1 Released
20th Aug 2019
PaperCut MF and NG 19.1 are now in general release and introduce Print Deploy, a great new feature to remove the complexity of print queue deployment. 19.1 also introduces Scan to SharePoint Online, Locally hosted OCR, the ability to select and save your favoured language at the MFD as well as the ability to manage and run your own custom reports and a refresh of many of the standard one click reports.
With the release of 19.1 PaperCut have removed the complexity of print queue deployment and provided an easy way to get the right driver and the right print queue to the right person in the right location, automatically. The release of print deploy solves many challenges faced by system administrators, so how does this great feature help?
- Print queues are dynamically deployed as staff move between different locations.
- Native drivers are installed along with default settings (grayscale, duplex etc) and capabilities (stapling, hole punching etc).
- It doesn't matter whether printing to a server or directly to a printer in a print-serverless environment.
- Mac and Windows computers are supported (with Linux and Chromebooks support coming soon).
- There’s support for computers that are not joined to a local domain (e.g. G Suite or Microsoft Azure AD).
Scan to SharePoint Online
The introduction of scan to SharePoint online extends the Scan to Cloud Storage options already provided by PaperCut such as Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox and is incredibly easy to set up. Administrators simply nominate (or create) a dedicated scan folder on the teams SharePoint document library. When a user is subsequently at the MFD it is then just a single click to send the scan to the folder.
Locally Hosted OCR (On Prem)
Despite the many cloud services available some organisations still prefer to store their scanned documents on local servers or within their own hosted IT systems. The new Locally Hosted OCR (On Prem) feature means you can now produce text-searchable and editable scans on site.
Language selection at the MFD
Users can now change their language choice at the printer and have the selection remembered. Regardless of the location they are in or the MFD they are using their selection will be remembered. This feature is currently available for Ricoh, Sharp and Kyocera devices with more to follow soon.
Custom Reports and refreshed one-click reports
Many customers of PaperCut have requested more flexibility in creating detailed reports so 19.1 introduces the ability to manage and run your own custom reports built in Jaspersoft Studio. As well as enabling customised reports a raft of the most popular standard one-click reports have also been refreshed.
